 Ubirajara Araujo

Ubirajara Araujo is currently R&D Technical Manager for Hospital Market at 3M. He has served as a Senior Project and Technical Manager in different areas of 3M such as Health Care, Industrial, and Display and Graphics business. His activities are customer focused and include market, competitive and investment analysis. His role maintains a strong relation with interfacial areas - marketing, sales, finance, manufacturing, purchase, compliance . Ubirajara performs Six Sigma Black Belt projects with customers, suppliers and inside the corporation and in a wide variety of businesses involving finance, manufacturing, and laboratory. Ubirajara holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Master's Degree in Physical Chemistry, and MBA from UNICAMP.

Annica Brown

Annica Brown is Global Head of Client Services at SunGard Front Arena. Her expertise is in trading systems, financial markets, and business analysis. Previously Annica was Repotrader at Nordea, Stockbroker/Repotrader at Carnegie, and Stockbroker at Första Sparbanken. Annica attended The Institute of Technology at Linköping University.

Sergio Carvalho

Dr. Carvalho is an Associate Professor of Marketing at the Rowe School of Business, Dalhousie University in Canada. He received his Ph.D. in Business/Marketing from Baruch College/The Graduate School of the City University of New York, his MBA in Finance from Northeastern University, and his BBA from the University of Fortaleza, Brazil. In addition, he completed two Post Graduate Diplomas – in International Business at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in France and in Finance at FGV-Fundacao Getulio Vargas in Brazil. As a university instructor at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, Dr. Carvalho has taught courses in a range of marketing disciplines, focusing on consumer behavior, consumer research, new product planning and development, and business strategy (international and domestic.) He has taught in the US, Canada, Finland, Switzerland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Israel and Brazil. His efforts as an instructor were recognized with one of the two most prestigious teaching awards given by the University of Manitoba, The Olive Beatrice Stanton Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2009. In addition, he received the Asper School of Business Associates Award for Excellence in teaching in 2011, and the University of Manitoba-UMFA Merit Award for teaching for four consecutive years (2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010) and for a combination of teaching, research and service in 2011. In the USA, he was nominated for the 2003 Presidential Excellence Award for Distinguished Teaching and received the 2004 Dean’s Distinguished Teaching Award both at Baruch College, The City University of New York.

Cristal Glanghcai


Luz-Cristal Glangchai

Cristal Glangchai is the founder of nonprofit Venturelab that runs weekend challenges, after school programs and summer programs that introduce, inspire, and empower youth and young women in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. Programs are built around a framework called ESTEAM (Entrepreneurship, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). Previously, she was the Director of The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Trinity University in San Antonio. Also, Cristal served as the director of the I2P® Program at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Glangchai completed her doctorate in biomedical engineering at UT Austin in 2008 with certificates in Cellular and Molecular Imaging for Diagnostics and Therapeutics, and in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Her dissertation covered the development of semi-conductor techniques for drug delivery applications and the fabrication of disease-responsive nano-carriers. She has placed in and won several commercialization and business plan competitions, including the ASME I-Show, the Texas MootCorp competition, the Rice Business Plan competition, UT I2P®, NANO I2P® and Global I2P® competitions. From these competitions Dr. Glangchai has continued her efforts to commercialize NANOTaxiTM, with the overall goal of commercializing new delivery techniques for cancer therapeutics and diagnostics. Previously she worked at 3M as a product development engineer. She holds an M.S. in biomedical engineering, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.A. in the Plan II Honors Program from UT.

Bill Hulsey

Bill Hulsey holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from the Vanderbilt School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif honorary scholastic society, served as Senior Managing Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review, and formed the By-Laws and Charter for the Nashville Business Incubation Center as a Law Intern. Prior to his legal career, he served as a commissioned Naval Officer (Lieutenant Commander) in the United States Navy Submarine Force as a member of the USS Jacksonville (SSN699) nuclear submarine pre-commissioning and initial sea trials crew and then as a Scientific & Technical Intelligence Analyst for the United States Army’s Foreign Science & Technology Center in Charlottesville, Virginia and Electronics Research & Development Command in Adelphi, Maryland. Bill holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics With Distinction from Rhodes College. Mr. Hulsey is a member of the State Bar of Texas and Registered to Practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, The United States Federal District Court for the Northern & Western Districts of Texas.  Bill Hulsey established HULSEY, P.C., Intellectual Property Lawyers (HULSEYIP) to apply a highly developed specialty and experience in a broad span of technical fields. HULSEYIP takes great pride in serving emerging growth companies competing in global markets with products and services relating to energy, life sciences, electronics, environmental, software, and aerospace technologies.


Luiz Manetti

Luiz Fernando Manetti was Born in São Paulo in 1970. He graduated in Chemical Engineer by Escola Politecnica – USP and completed his formation with a master degree in Business Administration by EAESP – FGV, and some international courses made at IFL – Swedish Institute of Technology and IMD Business School in Switzerland. After working for 7 years in his family business in the area of wholesales of auto parts, he joined Sandvik, a Swedish high-technology, engineering group with advanced products and a world-leading position within selected areas like mining, construction, special alloys, tools and tools systems for the advanced metal cutting industry, where he started in the marketing and sales department but soon he moved to the Finance area where he developed his career acting as business controller, finance controller and CFO for the Group in Brazil. In 2008 he took over the position of MD of the Group in Brazil accumulating his responsibility as CFO.

Tim Meldrum

Tim Meldrum

Tim Meldrum manages the Enterprise Education team within Enterprise Office at City University London, developing and delivering learning programmes in entrepreneurship and technology commercialisation across the university. He recently helped launch the London City Incubator, training student interns to conduct commercialisation consultancy on live technology projects.  Tim also led the development of commercialisation processes at City to best-practise standards. Tim spent seven years at Imperial College London, latterly running the Entrepreneurship Centre (ranked in the FT MBA global top 10 from 2003-2011). His BA is from University of Nottingham, his MSc (Econ.) and PhD from LSE, and his MBA from Imperial in 2001. Many moons ago he co-founded several theatre-in-education companies, and has a number of publications in social and economic history. In 2011 he sat on the judging panel at the Idea to Product Global competition for university technology commercialisation in Stockholm, and at Tech Entrepreneurs Week in London.

Patrizia Parenti

Patrizia Parenti is a Commercial Director at Makesys Fábrica de Software, Consultant and Lecturer in Innovation and teaches Innovation and Project Management. Her previous career was at Citibank, IBM and Microsoft. Patrizia holds three Master's degrees (pós-graduações): in Psychology from Instituto Pichon-Riviere, in Balanced Scorecard at Insper, and in Innovation, Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship at FGV.  Patrizia Parenti graduated in Business Administration from Mackenzie University, Sao Paulo.

Carlos Praes is Research and Innovation Manager at O Boticário. His expertise is in new technology research, delivery systems, nanotechology and molecular biology.  Previously, he was a researcher at Natura and Unilever. Carlos Praes earned his MSc. in Nanotechnology at Universidade do Rio Grande do Sul.


Daniel Scholten

Daniel Scholten is Manager at 3M New Ventures and responsible for venture capital deals for 3M in Latin America. He generates and executes strategic investments into disruptive early stage technology startups in a large variety of industry segments. He also identifies potential collaboration areas between startups and 3M.3M New Ventures is the venture arm of 3M, the American multinational conglomerate and one of the most innovative companies worldwide. Daniel started his career at a mid-market investment bank in the M&A practice in Germany, followed by being Manager at Ernst&Young’s FSO M&A practise in Zurich. He holds an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management.

Marcelo Tambascia

Marcelo Tambascia is the Corporate Research Laboratory Head in Brazil while also managing the 3M Technological Center. Moreover, he leads the 3M Social and Innovation Foundation in Brazil. Marcelo Tambascia’s career and functions at 3M place high emphasis in the development of new products, new technologies and technical assistance to the customers. Marcelo holds Chemical Engineering Degree and Master's Degree in Technological Innovation Management from UNICAMP.

Rebecca Taylor is a Venture Principal with Shell Technology Ventures (STV), the corporate venture capital arm of Royal Dutch Shell. Her role at STV includes identifying, vetting, selecting, and mentoring startups selected for investment by STV. STV’s purpose is to identify promising technologies that can be applied to significant operational challenges in Shell’s global operations, and selectively invest in the very best to accelerate their availability and market acceptance. Prior to joing STV, Ms. Taylor was Entrepreneur-­‐In-­‐Residence in two bureaus at the U.S. State Department, where she advised various bureaus and offices on how to more effectively engage with the US startup and university commercialization communities.

Jane Walerud

Jane Walerud is a serial entrepreneur and private investor. During the last 15 years, Jane has been involved (founded/invested in/been in the management team) for 11 startups. That does not count her first three startups from her youth. Of those 11 companies, five have gone really very well, three are growing nicely but are not world class companies yet, and three have not done well. Jane has also led a startup course for an incubator for three of those years.
