Robin Curle - Ms. Curle is a well-known and highly regarded leader in the high-tech business community. Prior to joining Zebra Imaging, Inc. as its President, CEO and Chairman in 2002, she was with Journée Software as its CEO, where she was instrumental in its turnaround. Prior to that Ms. Curle co-founded Evolutionary Technologies International (ETI) serving as its Executive Vice President and  drove ETI’s 100% annual growth rate, making it one of INC Magazine’s top 20 fastest growing private companies two years running and established worldwide operations to support its Fortune 1000-sized customers. She is a technology industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience in managing and growing high-tech organizations.
Steven Meyers - Mr. Meyers is currently president and founder of the Rational Energy Network, a consulting practice offering technical, financial, strategic, and market analysis. Previously, as a Vice-President of Product Development of Invensys PLC, Mr. Meyers was engaged to develop the infrastructure and manage the process for identifying, qualifying, and developing crossfunctional products and services for Invensys’ Energy Management Division which generated $3.4 billon of Invensys’ $8.3 billion of 2003 revenues. As Vice-President of Enron Energy Services, Mr. Meyers developed and managed the commercial business model for delivering energy-efficiency and managed Enron’s investments in efficiency projects of more than $300-million. Before joining Enron, Mr. Meyers worked in S.E. Asia with Supersymmetry, a world class designer of energy efficient clean rooms, industrial facilities and commercial buildings.
Dr. Mark Melliar-Smith - Dr. Melliar-Smith is the Chief Operating Officer for Molecular Imprints, a start-up company located in Austin, Texas, which develops and manufactures step and flash imprint lithography tools. Prior to joining Molecular Imprints, Mark was a Venture Partner with Austin Ventures (2002-2003), a venture capital firm located in Austin, Texas, and before that he was the President and CEO of SEMATECH (1997 to 2001) and  the Chief Technical Officer for Lucent Technologies Microelectronics, the forerunner of Agere Systems, from 1990 through 1996. In his thirty year career in high technology, Mark has held a wide variety of technical and management positions in R&D, manufacturing and business management, including Executive Director of the Bell Laboratories Photonics and Integrated Circuit Division, and also as the VP and General Manager of the AT&T Lightwave Business Unit.
Dr. Dale Tibodeau - Dr. Tibodeau isaSenior BusinessSystems Analystfor HP’sTechnology Solutions and Supportgroup wherein he responsible forrepresenting and prioritizing theIndustry Standard Server Global Business Unit's portfolioof IT needs and representing thoseneedsback into IT.  Previous to this assignment, Dale has been responsible forprinted circuit assembly board procurement and material handling engineering for HP’s warehouse/distribution center functions.  Dale holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University,and anMSand Doctoratein Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University.   Dale carriesAPICS CPIM andCIRMcertifications as well as PMI'sPMPcertification and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas.  In his free time,Dale enjoys flying, travel to international destinations, photography, and amateur radio.
Dr. Tim Westby - Dr. Westby is a Director/Shareholder resident in the Houston office of the intellectual property law firm Conley Rose, PC. Dr. Westby specializes in the litigation and prosecution of patents for the chemical and petrochemical industries, and provides intellectual property counseling for process and product development such as patent opinion preparation, patent portfolio development, and pre-litigation management. Dr. Westby holds an SB in chemical engineering from MIT, a PhD in chemical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and a JD from the University of Houston Law Center specializing in patent law. Dr. Westby held various positions at the Shell Development Company's Westhollow Research Center prior to his current position. His IP clients have ranged from startups to Fortune 100 petrochemical companies.

Michael Davis - Mr. Davis is Founder & President of Davis Law Group, a professional corporation. His practice includes a comprehensive array of technology transactions & intellectual property matters for developing, protecting & commercializing technology. During his 15-year legal career, he has represented numerous clients, and several have obtained large investments of venture capital. Before attending law school, he received his bachelor’s degree from MIT’s school of engineering and worked in the fields of electronic instrumentation, automated control systems, and computer programming.
Dr. Katherine Hammer - Dr. Hammer, President and CEO, is the co-founder and chairman of the board of ETI (Evolutionary Technologies International).  Hammer holds a doctorate in linguistics from the University of Iowa, taught at the college level and has over twenty years of experience in a variety of technical and management positions in the software industry.  Dr. Hammer serves on the boards of numerous civic and industry organizations, and was a co-chair of the Service to Society working group for the University of Texas at Austin Commission of 125, which set the University’s goals and priorities for the next two decades. She currently serves on the University of Texas Computer Science Department’s Advisory Committee and Development Board and teaches a University of Texas CS course entitled "Fundamentals of Software Integration.”
G. Dewey Liccioni - Mr. Liccioni is an Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategic Programs for the Agriculture Program of The Texas A&M University System, and he is one of the founding directors the TyRex Learning Foundation. He has extensive experience working with companies and universities to commercialize technology.  His current particular interest is in technology assisted learning devices and software.
Scott Miller - Mr. Miller joined Austin Ventures in 2004 and focuses on software investing. Previously, he co-founded and served as CTO of Contextual, a CRM software and services company. Before joining Contextual, he spent three years at pcOrder, serving in a variety of operating roles.  Scott received his MBA from the Harvard Business School and holds a Masters and an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.
Carol Williams - Ms. Williams is the CEO and president of Trendsetter Electronics. In 1994 with 14+ years in Electronics Distribution and $10,000 in personal savings, Carol Williams, launched Trendsetter Electronics from her garage. Trendsetter Electronics is a regional distributor of passive electro-mechanical components specializing in complex design applications that require a thorough understanding of vendor technologies. Trendsetter is headquartered in Round Rock, Texas.

Dr. Bob Bridge - Dr. Bridge has been in management, marketing and engineering roles at semiconductor and system companies for 29 years, including serving as founding CEO at three technology companies. Bob has also served as an entrepreneur in residence at Austin Ventures, vice president of marketing at Agere (the network processor startup) and vice president and general manager for communications ICs at Crystal Semiconductor/Cirrus Logic. Additionally, Bob has held engineering and management positions at Motorola, AT&T corporate headquarters and AT&T Bell Labs. Bob holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas, and a BA in Mathematical Sciences from Rice University.
Dr. Jack Hart - After graduating from UT Austin, Jack joined the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. where he served for 7 years.  Jack returned to Austin in 1977 and spent the next 17 years at Radian Corporation in the Special Projects Department where he served as Department Head from 1986 to 1993.  The Special Projects Department supported the US Department of Defense and the Ministry of Defence in Great Britain.  Core technologies resident in Special Projects included signal physics, software development, hardware design and development, and technical training.  Jack joined the University of Texas Center for Space Research in 1993 where he served as the Research Manager.  Prior to joining the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UT Austin in early 2003, Jack spent the previous 5 years serving as a technical consultant to Radian Corporation in Austin.  In his current position of Assistant Chairman, Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, Jack supports the Chairman in attaining the goals of the Department and also serves as the Department’s Industry Liaison.
Jamie Rhodes - Mr. Rhodes, founder and CEO of Perceptive Sciences, has 25 years of technology management experience in software development and software services for both Fortune 500 companies and startups. Jamie was a founding employee of National Instruments, a founder of Traq-Wireless and an angel investor in numerous ventures. Besides leadership roles in both venture backed and bootstrapped startups, Jamie spent nine years in management at IBM. While at IBM, Jamie managed efforts such as Object Oriented System Management and Warp Server. Jamie has a B.S. degree in Communications and Computer Programming and a Masters Degree in Business from The University of Texas at Austin.
Bruce Thornton - Mr. Thornton is the Chairman of Advanced Laser Materials, LLC.  ALM is a start-up company using UT technology in the rapid manufacturing area.  He is the President and Founder of CMS Technology, Inc, which does business management and by-product development consulting for the refining and petrochemical industries.  CMS also licenses separations technology to these industries and does merger and acquisition consulting in the solid waste, forestry by-products, and horticultural products areas.  He is also the Chairman and Founder of Landscape Depot, LLC, a joint venture with The Wonder Co., Nashville, TN, which provides bulk mulch, compost and specialty soils to the Texas region.
Dr. Dennis Wilson - Dr. Wilson is CTO, Chairman, and co-founder of Nanotechnologies and co-inventor of the company’s proprietary process. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas in 1977. Prior to starting Nanotechnologies he was a professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Texas at Austin where he taught courses and conducted research in thermal fluid sciences. He has authored over fifty technical papers, four patents and has over twenty-five years of experience in academia, government and industry.

Technology Entrepreneurship Society Flight Semifinals Judges

Rober Dunlap - Mr. Dunlap earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from Cornell Universityin 1991. That year he joined UOP, a chemical technology licensing firm, as a process engineer and control systems engineer. In 1998, Mr. Dunlap joined Fisher-Rosemount Systems, a division of Emerson. While there, he served as a consultant to the petroleum and life sciences industries, finishing as an area lead on a pharmaceutical control systems project.  He graduated in 2004 from the University of Texas at Austin MBAprogram,concentrating in finance and specializing in private equity. During that time he was on a team that placed fifth of 154 teams in an international innovation competition, and ran a seminar teaching innovation and new product design to fellow MBA students. In a class of 380, Rob was nominated as one of the 25 students who made the most impact for others' school experience.
Aruni Gunasegaram - Aruni is the President of Babble Soft (www.babblesoft.com). The company provides innovative software solutions that help make the transition into parenthood a little easier. Baby Manager™, the company’s first product, simplifies the lives of parents of newborns by helping them keep track of feeding schedules and other important information. Aruni has taught entrepreneurship at The University of Texas McCombs School of Business and was also the co-founder of Isochron (www.isochron.com), which provides wireless and software solutions to help major soft drink bottlers manage their vending machines.
Phong Le - Mr. Le is the Director of the North Texas Enterprise Center for Medical Technology and is the primary advisor to Program Companies for funding and capitalization. In 1991, Phong co-founded and was CEO of CREOTEC, a multimedia company offering products and services in the areas of training, virtual reality simulations, edutainment, informational kiosk, job performance improvement, and point of sale/point of interest.  Prior to joining NTEC in 2003, he spent 16 years in Information Technology, Project Management, Multimedia, and Corporate Consulting in the areas of Sales, Marketing, Finance,and Start-up Ventures. Previously, Phong held positions at Citibank,EDS, Verizon, and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Dr. J. Strother Moore - Dr. Moore holds the Admiral B.R. Inman Centennial Chair in Computing Theory at the University of Texas at Austin and is chair of the department. He is the author of many books and papers on automated theorem proving and mechanical verification of computing systems. Along with Boyer he is a co-author of the Boyer-Moore theorem prover and the Boyer-Moore fast string searching algorithm. With Matt Kaufmann he is the co-author of the ACL2 theorem prover. Moore was a founder of Computational Logic, Inc., and served as its chief scientist for ten years. He and Bob Boyer were awarded the 1991 Current Prize in Automatic Theorem Proving by the American Mathematical Society. In 1999 they were awarded the Herbrand Award for their work in automatic theorem proving. Moore is a Fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence. Moore got his PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 1973 and his BS from MIT in 1970.
Eric Schieck - Eric is the South Central US Area Sales Manager for AMD's embedded microprocessor product line. He is a UT Austin electrical engineering alum who has a passion for helping students become entrepreneurs and to learn what is needed to develop creative products that meet real needs. Because of this passion he was one of two students that founded the Technology Entrepreneurial Society and was one of the creators of I2P®.

Feedback Round Judges

Rob Adams - Mr.  Adams is an active investor, author and consultant, and on the staff of the management department at the University of Texas at Austin's McCombs School of Management, where he is also the Director of Moot Corp.  He is the founder and Managing Director of Tejas Venture Partners, an early stage venture capital firm in Austin, Texas. Prior to founding Tejas, he was a Partner with Austin Ventures, and the Managing Director of AV Labs, a venture capital firm he started in August 1999.  Prior to the venture business, he was a software operating executive. Throughout his venture and operating career he has been a founding investor in more than 30 companies, including Waveset (sold to Sun, NASDAQ: SUNW), Newgistics, and Troux.
Dr. Tony Ambler - Dr. Ambler joined the UT faculty in 1996 having previously held faculty positions in the UK, leaving behind the Racal Chair in Test Technology at Brunel University in West London. He gained his B.Sc., MSc. and Ph.D. degrees all from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology , UK in 1976, 1977, and 1981 respectively. A fellow of the IEEE for his work in test economics, he has published widely in IEEE journals and international conferences. He has authored and edited a number of texts on test economics. Dr. Ambler has been on the organizing and program committees of many workshops and conferences and served as Program Chair and then General Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Computer Design (ICCD), General Chair of the European Design and Test Conference, Program Chair and then General Chair of the International Test Conference. He serves on the editorial boards of IEEE Design and Test; and the Journal of Electronic Test, Theory and Application. He has just completed a three year term on the IEEE fellows Committee. Dr. Ambler is currently the Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UT.
Dr. Scott Evans - Dr. Evans completed a Ph.D. at The University of Texas in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in technology commercialization in May 2005.  He is currently a lecturer for the UT course Enterprise of Technology: Mind to Market, a graduate course cross-listed in engineering, law, business, and natural sciences.  He is a past I2P® participant and co-founded a company based on the technology that he presented at the 2003 I2P® International Competition.
Dr. Norm Kaderlan - Dr.  Kaderlan President of Technology Innovation Group, Inc., an international organization that assists clients in transforming knowledge into wealth using science and technology as drivers of economic development. He also is editor of InnovationMatters, an electronic newsletter covering innovation and technology transfer and commercialization for international subscribers. Dr. Kaderlan is Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas at Austin (UT) where he designed and teaches “The Enterprise of Technology.” Prior to that, he was Associate Director of Non-Degree Educational Programs for UT’s IC2 Institute; he also was Director of the Austin Technology Incubator.
Loren Kirkpatrick - Mr. Kirkpatrick coordinated the inaugural I2P® International Competition in 2003 and is a past I2P® competitor.  He is a 2003 graduate of the McCombs School of Business Executive MBA Program.
David Schieck - David’s professional career spans technology oriented leadership positions in industry, government and the academic sectors. David has participated in numerous commercialization assessment and strategic planning efforts for technologies ranging from medical stents, cancer treatments, drilling apparatus, to revolutionary new engines. He has been involved with two startups, providing business development and business analysis services. David was one of the founders of the I2P®Competition and has served as Program Director for the Director of the Chair of Free Enterprise, University of Texas at Austin.
