Prize: €500

The Programme was preceded by a presentation from Eoin O’Neill in which he outlined some guidelines for making a clear presentation to any panel about a tech-based new business proposition. Included was the eight point summary of what the Idea to Product CompetitionTM requires as a guideline, for the Judging Panel and for the participants, emphasising that projects at all early stages were eligible, and that it is not a Business Plan Competition. Colm Stephens gave a presentation about the needs of entrepreneurs for dealing with venture capitalists, incorporating material from a discussioin between the four regions of Dublin, Milan, Barcelona and Munich held on the preceding days. (Entrepreneurs and investors from these four European Regions had provided relevant inputs, views, and case histories.)

Six presentations were then made.

Following the presentations, the panel of VCs discussed the entries. They noted that the projects were at various stages of development, and that this was a practice round to familiarise potential competitors with the experience of facing tough questions.  The standard of presentations was highly praised.

The judges unanimoulsy agreed that the project Fiamma (Dermot Geraghty) was the project as presented that best met the criteria for the competition. It won the €500 award.

The next heat of the competition to select a team to go to The University of Texas Idea to Product International Competititon in November 2005 will be held in September 2005.
